From Sarajevo to Gorazde and Tuzla, the match turned into much more than a sporting event. It became a night of collective pride, emotion and unity, as supporters wrapped in Bosnian flags sang, chanted and celebrated the team’s historic run on the world stage.
In Sarajevo, the atmosphere reached fever pitch even before kick-off. On one of the city’s main roads, fans briefly stopped traffic and performed a traditional kolo dance, accompanied by songs, flags and loud cheers. Videos shared on social media showed scenes of joy and togetherness as supporters waited for one of the most important matches in the country’s football history.
Gorazde also burned with support for the Dragons. Large numbers of fans gathered in the streets and at the “Dragon’s Nest” fan zone, where flares lit up the night sky and a large Bosnian flag was unfurled to the sound of patriotic songs and chants.
In Tuzla, Trg Slobode was packed shortly before kick-off, with fans gathering for an organised public viewing. The square was filled with Bosnian flags, national team jerseys and songs, as supporters voiced their belief that the Dragons could write a new page of World Cup history.
Although the final result brought disappointment, the scenes across Bosnia and Herzegovina showed the scale of support behind the team. For one night, the country was united by hope, pride and the belief that its players had already given the nation something unforgettable.
